Sculpture House

Introduction

West Coast Modern presents the Sculpture House, a wonderfully playful asymmetrical-shaped home designed by Nigel Parish of Splyce Design. The home comfortably sits amongst an eclectic & colorful neighborhood, with streetscapes that reflect the diversity of the community. As you walk toward the front door, you're immediately taken in by its warm lush trees, slowly revealing the entranceway into what you know will be a celebration of beautiful spaces. A simple interior palette of materials and white walls allow for dynamic plays of light and shadow throughout the day, with skylights filling the spaces throughout. The main floor is bisected from east to west with a continuous line of steps and fireplace, separating the kitchen and dining from the living area. To the south, a wall of sliding glass doors extends the space onto the deck and garden, and erodes any clear division between the interior and exterior. This 2 bedroom house includes room to grow on the upper floor, where an open office is roughed-in for a bathroom and planned for easy conversion to a third bedroom. This is a special one.

Splyce Design

Splyce is a design studio producing modern projects ranging in size, scope and budget from new homes and renovations to custom furniture and landscapes. An underlying interest in all scales of work is how thoughtfully designed objects and spaces have the ability to inspire, engage our senses, and ultimately influence our quality of life. The experiential qualities of a space, and how things feel both physically and aesthetically, are carefully considered throughout the design stage. The result is a highly articulated design that exudes warmth and comfort while maintaining a distinctly modern sensibility.
